Where as this may work for a season or two, over time the non-specified viscosity may cause cavitation of the water pump leading to premature failure. The chemical make up of the universal stuff can also cause corrosion on internal cooling components. Moral of the story, the OE specified mixture is best and doesn't normally cost all that much more. Sometimes it's even less.
